When I arrived at Marketing Envy a few months back, in addition to being the Marketing Manager, I was offered the chance to become the agency HubSpot Expert. Obviously I immediately said yes, I mean, who says no to their bosses on the first day?? But once I got to work and began digging deeper, I realized just how incredible and endless this platform really is and what an amazing solution it is for startups. 

It’s all about inbound marketing

HubSpot coined the term ‘Inbound Marketing’, which focuses on creating educational content that pulls people toward your website, where they can learn more about what you sell on their own accord, as opposed to buying ads, buying email lists, or cold calling.

The aim is to get found by qualified leads online, through content (website pages, blog articles, social messages) optimized for search and social media. Non-qualified leads are also well received but then nurturing them until they become qualified is all the more important. Understanding which content pulls your buyers through the sales funnel is critical, so that later you can repeat and get it to market at scale. Hubspot is the way to make this happen.

Before we dig into the features that’ve made me fall in love with HubSpot, I think the first and most obvious reason is the fact that it truly is an easy and effective platform for marketers, and startups sepcifically, to get from novice to automation and inbound expert status, improving lead generation and making the ROI quick with as well.

So without further ado, here are my top 10 HubSpot features:  

HubSpot Support: I don’t know how often you contact support teams, but before HubSpot, it was never my “go to”. To be honest most sites have a standard FAQs page and when you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can try to contact them and hope they’ll answer that week. Not with HubSpot! If you don’t know how to do something, there’s no need to guess. Hubspot has user guides and tutorials for everything. And if you still can’t find the answer you’re looking for, their support team can and will get back to you within 24-hours (and normally much faster).

Dashboard: I’m a huge dashboard fan, let me see all my data clearly in one place and i’m happy. The dashboard is your easy to read, all-in-one location for everything you need to know about your marketing strategy. You can set monthly goals, track your progress and compare to previous months or years.  

Calendar: Keeping up with your content marketing and social media can be difficult, especially when you have emails, scoring and workflows to look after as well. The HubSpot calendar helps you manage it all in one place. You can schedule blogs, emails, social posts and landing pages, set up reminders and tasks and even assign them to other team members. You have all your scheduled marketing activities on one calendar making it easier to plan and schedule future ones.

Social Inbox: The Social Inbox is your one-stop shop for all things social media. You don’t have to go onto each platform to manage your interactions; instead you can manage them all from one place (Now tell me that’s not a dream!). There's still a lot of work to do on this feature, but I definitely like where they're going with it.  

Integrations: Hubspot integrates with almost every other marketing and lead generation software you could imagine. Integrate it with Salesforce, Sumome, MailChimp, and more (really, the list is endless).

Campaigns: Hot on the heels of my love of dashboards is my obsessions with campaigns. When we have a new content offer, it comes with new keywords, landing pages, emails, workflows, you name it. On HubSpot you can set up individual marketing campaigns with specific goals, associate your activities with the campaign and easily keep track of all of them in one click. A marketer's heaven.

Smart Content: Not all your contacts are at the same stage of the buyer's journey, new customers need different emails and promotions than returning customers. With smart content you can use the same email or landing page, and decide that a contact that has already engaged in a certain way (let’s say downloaded an eBook), will be offered different and more relevant content, moving him down the funnel. 

Social Plug-In on Chrome: One of the best features in the platform! (I know I say that a lot). You’re browsing the web on Google Chrome and you come across a great article you want to post on your social channels. No need to stop everything you’re doing, just click on the extension and it’ll open the social publishing window on HubSpot. You’re free to write your post, click ‘Schedule’ and continue browsing.   

Bulk Publishing: You can schedule all your social media content for the next month with bulk publishing!! Need I add more? 

Workflow: Workflows are  an automated set of marketing actions that allow you to nurture leads, set up  internal functions, and more based on specific conditions. Plus they connect to your CRM properties to ensure that every contact receives the exact marketing material they need.
